Job description
The customs clearance specialist is an expert in customs operations and processes. By providing their expertise in this field, they help the company to manage risks and avoid legal proceedings by ensuring that commercial operations are carried out in compliance with all the regulations and legislation in force.

Steering and monitoring of customs operations
Prepare and submit required documentation for international shipments, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and other necessary documentation
Validate official declarations with the customs authorities
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and laws, including tariffs, customs clearance, and import/export regulations
Manage the invoicing process to the client in a timely and accurate manner
Represent the client to the Customs Authority
Alert the client in case of litigious customs, identify the appropriate solutions to resolve the issue
Coordinate with other members of the logistics team, such as freight forwarders and warehouse personnel, to ensure that goods are transferred and delivered in a timely and efficient manner
Ensure that manufactured products are correctly classified according to their category (perishable, dangerous, technological, etc.) and according to the commercial and regulatory requirements specific to the country of origin and destination of the goods
Resolve customs-related issues and communicate with government agencies.
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders in order to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance processes
Reporting and analysis
Implement and monitor KPIs to assess the benefits of optimizing customs flows
Produce and maintain reporting following client deadlines and Geodis requirements
Analyze foreign regulations and the establishment and implementation of procedures to comply with them
Advice and guidance
Act as a liaison between the customer, the customs authorities, the goods transit department and all other control bodies, and ensure that all necessary documents are in order
Monitor changes in customs regulations, disseminate information, advise and train the departments concerned or customers
Provide support to sales teams, including during customer visits
Communicate the risks associated with non-compliance with customs regulations
Identify potential savings, define Incoterms policies (rules and procedures determining the responsibilities and obligations of the seller and the buyer) with a view to optimizing customs costs
Support control and litigation procedures
Stay up to date in the field
Bachelor's/Master's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
