Job description

The Supervisor WHS Air is responsible for ensuring operational excellence of all warehouse related day to day activities in accordance with the directives given by the company, including day-to-day management of the Warehouse Employees.
I. Leadership;
• Ensure performance targets are achieved for the team. Reporting of performance and results to the Operations Manager
• Recognizes and evaluates bottlenecks in work processes and suggests efficient working methods to improve them. Implements
guides and checks the improvements, escalates issues to Operations Manager if needed
• Ensures an optimal work environment in which staff is motivated to strive for good results
• In charge of optimal workforce planning of the department, in line with budget
• Supervises efficient and effective planning and administration in the operational process and determines priorities;
• Monitors and manages quality, quantity and continuity of delivered services

II. Operations;
• Advice on changes in and assure correct usage of the Warehouse Management Systems, makes sure administration is handled accurately
• In co-operation with the Operations Manager build a strong department; lay-out of the department, review the processes and
advice management
• Ensure optimal execution of warehouse processes related to the reception of goods, stock control, order picking, internal transport & handling, shipping & all necessary documentation
• Coordinate exceptional warehouse procedures (special projects, problem reports)
• Proactively join internal meetings and meetings with customers
• Keep overview of all warehouse activities/workload
• Problem solving of warehouse related issues such as reworks, damaged goods and warehouse tools and systems
• Opening and closing the building with security

IV. Quality and Safety;
• Is responsible for his own safety, his colleagues, and the safety of visitors
• Gives solicited and unsolicited advice on quality and safety standards
• Actively contributes to the improvement and correct implementation of logistics process
• Monitors and secures (procedures/guidelines concerning e.g. 5S method/HACCP/ISO) safety and tidiness, responses adequately to signals influencing health and safety addresses persons involved
• Is familiar with internal and general rules/guidelines concerning safety and code of conduct
• Ensures compliance with various internal regulations and legal provisions
• Identifies dangerous situations and makes suggestions for improvement

VI Human Resource Management
• Assists in selection of and instructs (new) employees, guides, assigns tasks and sets and adjust priorities
• Responsible for bi-weekly's, meetings about frequent absence etc.
• Responsible for correct execution of performance management such as midyear reviews, appraisals and learning & development
• Provides data regarding productivity, number of temporary employees (to be) deployed, time sheets, etc.

Applicant's profile

Technical skills;
• Completed relevant education at MBO+/HBO level or proven relevant knowledge by working experience
• Knowledge of and experience in logistics
• Knowledge of and experience with Warehouse Management Systems
• Experience with MS Office applications
• Experience with process optimalisation and improvement plans
• Middle Management/Leadership
• Obliged: Valid Air Cargo Employee Certificate
Valid Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate
Valid Supervisor Luchtvracht – Air cargo Certificate (Incl. CITO)
Valid Forklift/Reach truck Certificate
Valid VGB
• Every 5 years a VGB needs to be requested by GEODIS and the employee. The AIVD determines if the VGB is granted.
