Job description

The Freight Forwarder is responsible for the operational and administrative execution of import and export services for our freight forwarding customers. The Freight Forwarder arranges shipments and sends freight cargo as efficiently as possible while taking costs, quality and lead time into account. The Freight Forwarder also has an advising role and thinks of ways to enhance freight shipments.

Operations
Result; Providing services to customers in accordance with SLA, SOP or other contractual obligations.

• Participates in the execution of operational activities, from file set-up and booking of air/shipping lines to checking supplier and/ or customer invoice;
• Ensure independent execution of freight forwarding activities;
• Set objectives and priorities using knowledge and ability to make profitable business decisions;
• Book shipments and distribute information into files and calculate charges;
• Negotiate and discuss buying rates on shipment level;
• Enter all charges & profit shares;
• Close file, print airway bills (AWB), pass invoices & credit notes;
• Post information in the various IT systems (Next Gen, G360, Fiton, etc.) timely & correctly.

Customer Service
Result; strengthen internal network with other sites. Actively working on a good relationship with external customers and suppliers.

• Follows through on customer inquiries, requests and complaints;
• Develop and maintain relationships with (high potential) accounts, overseas agents, sister offices and Shipping lines;
• Safeguards the integrity of GEODIS's customers and fellow team members;
• Answer customer questions (around 90%) or by addressing the right persons;
• Proactively seeks ways to exceed customers' expectations
• Understand the customer business environment;
• Consistently treat customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect;

Reporting
Result; ensuring optimal operational progress and performance aligned with KPI's, SLA, SOP or any other contractual agreements with the customer.

• Assist with month-end closings: check received invoices and billing conform company policy;
• Willing to modify decisions when changing circumstances or data dictate, based on the results on customer reporting;
• Assure timely billing conform company policy;
• Check intercompany invoices and administrate them in the system: if not correct make disputes;
• Timely administer and react to disputes / supplier invoices.

Profile of the position;

Technical skills
• Vocational education (MBO+) in freight forwarding;
• 2 – 3 years' experience in logistics;
• Effective user of IT systems used in the freight forwarding industry (operational, invoicing and company tools)
• Fluent in local language and English;
• Knowledge of customer's SOP's;
• Knowledge of customs, import & export processes and industry regulations.

Depending on site:
• Certificate Air Cargo Employee (MLV);
• Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) which needs to be renewed every two years;
• Certificate of No-Objection (VGB) which needs to be renewed every five years.

Depending on department:
• Latest version of IATA DGR certification;
• Latest version of Acceptance of General Cargo (Acceptatie Algemene Vracht) Awareness
• Latest version of GDP Awareness;
• Latest version of IMO-DG.
