Job description

I. Operations
• Participates in the execution of operational activities, from file set-up and booking of air/shipping lines to checking supplier and/ or customer invoice
• Ensure independent execution of freight forwarding activities
• Set objectives and priorities using knowledge and ability to make profitable business decisions
• Book shipments and distribute information into files and calculate charges
• Negotiate and discuss buying rates on shipment level
• Enter all charges & profit shares
• Close file, print airway bills (AWB), pass invoices & credit memos
• Post information in the various IT systems (such as Next Gen, G360, Fiton, etc.): timely & correct

II. Customer Service
• Follows through on customer inquiries, requests and complaints
• Develop and maintain relationships with (high potential) accounts, overseas agents, sister offices and Shipping lines
• Safeguards the integrity of GEODIS's customers and fellow team members
• Answer customer questions yourself (around 90%) or by addressing the right persons
• Proactively seeks ways to exceed customers' expectations
• Understand the customer business environment and consistently treat customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect
• Fosters productive relationships with both internal and external customers

III. Reporting
• Assist with month closing: checking received invoices and billing as per company policy
• Willing to modify decisions as changing circumstances or data dictate, based on the results on customer reporting
• Assure timely billing as per company policy.
• Check intercompany invoices and administrate them in our system: if not correct make disputes
• Timely administer and react to disputes / supplier invoices


IV. Team work
• Act as a back-up for colleagues in case of illness, holidays or peaks in work load
• Works easily with a variety of people
• Alters normal procedures to fit a specific situation to get a job done and/or meet company goals
• Works as a unit – not individually or competitively – and to contribute actively to the overall team and branch results
• Leads others to improved performance towards GEODIS's Mission, Vision and Values

Applicant's profile

Technical skills
• Vocational education (MBO+) in the area of freight forwarding
• 2 – 3 years' experience in logistics (Pharma experience is an advantage)
• Effective user of IT systems used in the freight forwarding industry (both Operational, invoicing and company tools)
• Fluent in local language and English (read, spoken and written);
• Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) prior to the start of the employment which needs to be renewed every two years
• Knowledge of customs, import & export processes and Industry regulations

Depending on site:
• In possession of a certificate of Air Cargo Employee

Depending on department:
• IATA cat. 6
• IMO-DG
